The upgrade of gear can increase its stats base and often increases its other features. The value of these upgrades is determined by the tiers of gear, their requirements, and how many random augmentations can be applied.

The racial Shield elite Razortail for instance, is usually upgraded to improve its lightning absorption capabilities in PvP and/or provide additional defenses to missile-based builds in the PvM. This makes it more marketable than the perfect non-upgraded version.

Reroll Tokens

Reroll tokens are a way to reroll a purchased item like armor, weapon or rings. This allows you to swap the item upgrader mod for one of the same type and comes with an additional set of bonuses. Reroll tokens can be an economical method of upgrading equipment. However, they don't keep the quality of the original item and any resources wasted won't be compensated for.

The survivors can get Reroll tokens in a variety of ways, including through the Mistery Box and rare drops from skulled creatures. They are also available in crates and chests or purchase them from the store for $150 each. Reroll tokens can be used to alter the attributes of an item, for example increasing the damage it can cause.

Players can roll their equipment into three aspects that include physical power, magical power and health. Physical power upgrades increase the damage that melee and weapons and spell power improves rings and mage attacks. Health upgrades give the player an extra health.

Three types of rerolls tokens are available in three categories: upgrade rare and legendary. Each upgrade elevates the item to a better quality. To make them, you'll need an upgrade level reroll token. Upgrades require a standard item. Rare upgrades require items that are either exclusive or legendary. Unlike enchantments, however, upgrade components cannot be stacked with one another, and can only be added to one item at one time. Furthermore each upgrade component will require a certain amount of items to be added, as well as an appropriate amount for the equipment.

The Upgrade Station features two slots: the left is where players can place an item to be upgraded, and the right side shows a glimpse of what the equipment will appear like when it reaches its next level. Once the player has enough items by pressing the yellow arrow, it will initiate the upgrade process.

A piece of equipment can be upgraded up to five times. Each time an item is upgraded, its stats will increase by a small percentage. The maximum level of an item is 19.

Once an item has reached its highest level, upgrades will no longer be available to it. Also, when an item is on an upgrade track (e.g. Veteran or Explorer), upgrades for that track will have a discount.

Upgrade components are a type of equipment that can slot into armors, weapons trinkets, gathering tools and other trinkets to give an additional benefit or bonus when the equipment is in use. For example, the helm upgrade "Foundation of the Sun" boosts the base defense, and also gives an additional 20% chance of blocking. The DPS "Wildfire", on the other hand, increases weapon damage.

Certain items are better off being upgraded less for their increased stats and more because it lets players get the maximum amount of value from a flawless roll on the item. For instance, a perfectly rolled 200/6 504 armor set piece is highly valued in the melee PvP community and could be worth 20-50 times the value of the unupp'd version.

When you choose an upgrade component to be inserted into an item, the game will display an in-game window that lists the required requirements. These include the type of item (either weapon or armor) and the tier of that item and the upgrade Token needed, and the amount of progress needed to complete the upgrade.

Once you've met the required conditions for upgrading the game will put the item in your inventory, and the progress bar will change to indicate how close to completing the upgrade. You can also verify the status of an upgrade by visiting any NPC that upgrades items.
