For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you're at work or in school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot vacuum that mops hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competition. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live some more volume and a little more cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on how dirty they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you inform the robot vacuum cleaner uk of which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.

It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
