It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's loud, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and look better. If you're willing some more volume and some additional cost this is a capable two-in-one that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum cleaner vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and dries mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
