There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in just a few seconds.

It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competition. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work, or at night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
