The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to each end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in its position, you can take it out of it. It is important to avoid having a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. Most newer cylinders have been constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. These are designed to reduce attacks by forcing cylinders to turn in a different direction. This helps deflect the attack and protect your doors.

Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is an increasingly common type of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is smashed using a special tool to break the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is much quicker and more straightforward than opening the door with multipoint locks and leaves no evidence of a burglary, which could hinder an insurance claim.

The spring cassette is located in the base of the door handle backplate providing a sprung solution to return the multipoint lock handles back to their original position after usage. These handles used to have no spring and would drop when the locking mechanism was disconnected. This simple component is the best solution to fix this problem. It also helps prevent your door from getting stuck in either the closed or open position as they aren't easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specially designed to be used with multipoint locks sprung They will not work with non-sprung multipoint handles. You must have a bespoke hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram).
