Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as PvE damage and crit chance.

If the weapon's upgrade template is %, it will increase 3percent of its previous damage every time it is upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the current level of the item. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor to give them a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on devices that have slots. The item must be upgraded to blue before a component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment and some of the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear that is ascended or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it is applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment with the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can alter the defense or attack characteristics of a weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear even if they are unsure what can be improved upon the reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it is likely that the item will be obsolete or even break in the event that the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that can increase or even eliminate the chances of failure, as well as some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade item parts which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes within the area around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible up to 15 levels.

In the endgame, you will often find that the best way to enhance your equipment is to use Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and offer a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes more quickly.

Glyphs, the sole upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced again are the most popular. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs, and there are also a few rare Glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs then you have to put them on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that will boost a particular set of stat nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Utilizing Glyphs Glyph will boost all the nodes that are connected to it, so you should try to place your Glyphs near key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. Druids for instance should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The system of upgrading items allows players to increase the effectiveness of specific items by putting upgraded components in them. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items may be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each item level requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to the upgrading of an item. Once enough points are earned, you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When an item is upgraded by a player it is replaced with a different item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will become the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item upgrades will also have a unique bonus. This could be a disadvantage in that the item could be more expensive even if you don't need it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do this. This causes the item to be traded for a new one, which will come with the level 1 base, and a different set of extra bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, but it's not something that should be repeated often, as it could waste a lot of resources.

Certain upgrades can boost their value and allow players to modify their equipment. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and exits water (or swims like a dolphin). This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the maximum roll by a factor of 10. This item upgrades is extremely useful in PvP battles, since the best version of it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its value if it is not upgraded.

Requirements

The upgrader for items lets players increase the level of their equipment (armor, weapons trinkets, and weapons) beyond ilvl385 by handing over the appropriate currency to the NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of that piece, while upgrading weapon items will increase the base damage and the strength and dexterity required to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Every time you upgrade an item it is given the chance to fail. The failure rate increases the more you go beyond the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will result in the item returning to its original state which means that the player has to spend additional items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item is not upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it gained, such as the chance to crit, attack damage, or additional effects (such as increased heal over time, or the speed of reloading). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it increases its crit chance it will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is recomputed each time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a typical equipment item may have five upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with a much lower cost for each upgrade.

Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from standard gear. For instance, they may need fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. However, players must visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko in Central Flarine. Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade requires a different amount of the upgrade ingredients.
