How to Replace an audi a3 keys New audi key programmer (Xyzbookmarks.Com) G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Mazda-3D-Black.pngCharles the Humble Technician shows how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is situated on the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal the ECU via an uncolored wire (T55/49) which is then sent to the tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The grey wire is located on the edge of transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to regulate fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and the location of the camshaft so it can trigger spark and injectors in the right way.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is out of alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of a chain stretch or a jumpy chain link in the upper chain of timing. The code will not appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

Testing is a bit challenging as there are two different connector pins, and they have different functions but the best way to test it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. When the sensor is operational, it should read approximately 1000 ohms. Look for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you have problems with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll i had massive power loss like the engine is out of gas or injectors aren't firing any more. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, 3 were soaked with gazoline and the fourth one was dry. I put tissue over each injector hole, and when I start the engine with no sparks, the three with gazoline jump right out. The fourth one remains closed. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I found zero ohm. I'm assuming the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car is able to start if the G28 is disconnected and is running fine when it is connected but it still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even if it is not plugged in, shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is 0.

I'm not certain what to do, i believe that i've completely ruled out all other possibilities. But i am afraid i might have missed something. Please let me know if you have any ideas! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal by the RPM sensor. The GM-style sensor is the same as the G4 and both function in the 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a wrecking yard or in a local parts store. It is simple to test them - simply switch your DMM into resistance mode and measure the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump on the connector's edge facing upwards). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines must know the position and speed the crankshaft in order to make a decision about timing of the fuel injector, etc. To do this, it makes use of a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you have a problem with either of these sensors, the diagnostic scanner will show the codes that could trigger an engine shutdown.

A malfunctioning G28 sensor could cause an inaccurate speed counter for your gearbox and a gearbox which shifts more quickly than normal, and/or a misfire while in gear. If you are experiencing any of these problems, it is most likely that your sensor is deteriorating and requires replacement audi a3 key. They are cheap and easy-to-find especially if they're a Bosch sensor like ours. If you prefer, GM's version of this part is an excellent choice.

5. Tachometer

A faulty engine speed sensor could be a cause for a slew of issues in your vehicle. It's a crucial component of the transmission in your audi replacement keys, as it transmits information to the ECU on how fast or slow the engine of the car is spinning. If this sensor fails, it will affect the performance of the transmission as well as the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located on the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal directly to the ECU at pin T55/49 via a grey wire. The ECU is then able to process the signal to control the flow of fuel, timig and boost, and also sends it on to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can test for sensor failure by checking continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. You can also verify continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. You should observe approximately 1000 ohms of resistance between those points. This is the same across the audi a1 key replacement 80-100-200-RS2 model, ranging from the 1985 MC all the way up to the 1997 UrS AN and the 1995 RS2 Du, so you might find good ones in wrecking yards.
